Impact of Medical Student Research Experiences on Future Career Plans

Mentor
Rachel Wolfson, MD
Pediatrics - Critical Care

Description

Since 2009, all MD-only students at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine have been required to participate in the Scholarship & Discovery curricular thread, through which they complete a mentored, hypothesis-driven scholarly project. Trainees will work with the mentor to develop a project to evaluate outcomes of this program, using survey data from students.

Specific Aims

The aims will be determined by the trainee. Previous projects have examined research self-efficacy and interest in specific types of research, gender differences in research career intention, and the relationship between program satisfaction and changes in research career intention between matriculation and graduation.

Methods

The project developed by the trainee will use survey data.
