Description

Peyronie disease (penile curvature), is a fibrosing disease of tunica albuginea causes lots of penile scarring and deformity affecting function and erection. It is a challenging condition of the penile tissue that often require treatment. However there is limited therapeutic options and surgical treatment could be morbid and extensive. We aim in this discovery research to characterize several molecular pathways for novel applications of biomarkers and therapeutics

Specific Aims

Micro RNA profiling and other biomarkers in peryronie disease used for novel drug discovery

Methods

Tissue analysis of peyronie plaques obtained from diseased and healthy tissue
