Salvaging Conventional Outflow In Neovascular Glaucoma

Description

We are initiating a prospective clinical trial to implement an aggressive multidisciplinary (glaucoma + retina) protocol to salvage conventional aqueous outflow in neovascular glaucoma. The standard of care often involves failure of the conventional aqueous outflow to be salvaged, and a surgical drain implant is needed.

Specific Aims

We aim to enroll 50 patients for this new protocol and measure their clinical outcomes, we hypothesize that more patients will have their physiologic aqueous outflow pathway salvaged and can avoid a drain implant. We also aim to identify risk factors for failure to complete this protocol, in order to help personalize neovascular glaucoma care in the future.

Methods

IRB approval is currently underway. Will need to create a database for patients enrolling in this protocol, and set up a large number of clinical follow-up visits with both retina and glaucoma in order for patients to follow the protocol.
