Cystic Lung Disease: How Good are Non-Experts in Diagnosis?

Mentor
Jonathan Chung, MD

Description

Experts at chest imaging are very good at differentiating cystic lung diseases from each other. How about non expert radiologists? I have access to approximately 80 CT scans used in a previous observer study assessing accuracy in visual scoring of CT scans in the setting of cystic lung disease in expert radiology readers and pulmonologists. (Gupta N, Meraj R, Tanase D, et al. Eur Respir J. 2015 Oct;46(4):1196-9.)

Specific Aims

To assess the accuracy of CT in categorizing diffuse cystic lung disease in the hands of non-expert readers.

Methods

Organize CT scan data (around 80 scans) and coordinate residents scoring (across different levels of training) as well as possible medical student scoring. Analysis will be done by separate stats support.
